Director’s Note

Sometimes the only things in life that are in your control, are the stories that you tell.

In the Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, the Pevensie children have been subject to intense social and personal change. Living in the middle of the Second World War, and living in a new home, all while trying to sort out their own relationships with their siblings and themselves; these children need an escape. Narnia is a manifestation of that need to escape, but more so than escape, Narnia is actualization. Through the use of co-operative, devised movement with the students at Center Stage Academy, we sought to invoke a sense of play within the world of Narnia - turning the harsh realities of the world into a means for the siblings to make genuine change.

This reality within Narnia is often seen in our day to day lives. It’s rare that one has the power to change when war breaks out, when you get sick with the flu, or when a storm blows in, but what we can control is what is within ourselves.
